6th Short-term exchange in France
Château Thierry, 05.03 - 11.03.2017

On Sunday, we welcomed our Spanish and English friends at Château -Thierry’s train station with our families, our teachers Mrs Batisse and M. Lambert and the headmistress Mrs Fischer. Some of us stayed with the English team staying at the Hotel IBIS in town to make them feel at ease in our town.

On Monday morning, our dancing section had prepared a little sport show to launch the topic of the week: Sport! All the students who had rehearsed for the flashmob’s choreography in February performed it on stage. After the break, all the schools presented the works they had prepared on the topic : Sport.
We took our lunches in our School cafeteria or at the Cybercafé and we spent the afternoon with the sports teachers, Mrs Valdivia and Mrs Lambert who taught everybody the steps of the flashmob ’s choreography on Justin Timberlake’s song: « Can’t stop the feeling» that we were going to perform for the final event’s evening. Then, we attended a music lesson to learn a song with the music section’s students, because we would sing part to the School’s concert on Thursday. The school day is very long in France (from 8 am to 6 pm). Some of us met later into town for dinner.

On Tuesday morning, we divided the participants into 2 teams, to attend the workshops and class ‘immersions of the day. One workshop was about cooking and preparing healthy snacks, fit for sports practice with Mrs Bassale and her students and the other team attended a biology ’s immersion lesson on « how can we be sure that a drink sold in a sport shop is energetic? » with Mrs Belin, Mrs Dammery and Mrs Huentz.

In the afternoon we discovered Chateau-Thierry, then we walked around the Old Castle’s ruins before finally visiting Jean De La Fontaine’s museum. We finally had a workshop in the Town library on « how to twist fables? » and on the art of writing with a feather with Mr Brioux and Mrs Cathé.(Gladys, Charlotte)

On Wednesday morning, we set ourselves to visit Paris, the Musée de L’homme. Later in the afternoon, we took a refined tea break at the Café Procope with Mrs Pouillart, Mr Lambert, the high school’s American Assistant Jonathan Ortiz, and Mr LLobat. What a lovely city even under the grey sky and the rain!

On Thursday morning we went to Reims, to visit the Fossier ’s manufacture of pink biscuits and strolled in town which is famous for its cathedral with Jonathan Ortiz, Mrs Delamotte and Mr Bachler. In the afternoon, we rehearsed the song for the school’s concert event. Finally, we finished the illustrations of the twisted fables we had invented in the art room with Mrs Tsang. Later in the evening, we took part altogether to the school’s concert, that was a great moment!
(Dania and Awa)

On Friday morning, we had a physics ’s class immersion on « how can we prepare emulsions », with Mrs Voisin, and some of us succeeded in preparing a nice mayonnaise! In the afternoon, after a step lesson, we had nice surprise from the National Federation of Dubble Dutch who came for an initiation to this sport: what a fun we had, under the sun at last! Thanks to them.
(Léa)

For the final event, we performed our twisted fable on stage and did our best for the flashmob’s choreography: YEAaaH !!! everybody can practice sport! The night ended with a party at the Cybercafé.
